SALT

  What are SALT Members?

Our SALT program is designed for our growing youth to be engaged in our ministry and learn ways they can serve by helping in our kitchen and with our program.  They have opportunities to gain hands on work experience while helping campers be engaged with activities, serving food, helping clean, and play at camp.  Their time here is also one of community building and spiritual development as they take time during the week to discuss the Bible and share with their peers.

  Why Be a Counselor?

Being a counselor is an awesome responsibility.  Counselors help to motivate and encourage the next generation of youth by playing games with them, engaging them in quirky but real conversations, sharing life skills & understandings in a way that is relatable, and relying on God in practical ways that shows how faith is relevant to everyday life.   Our counselors don't do it alone.  Jr. & Sr. Counselors pair up to handle a cabin of about 9 campers each week, who then have a team of other staff around to cook, lead games, provide lessons, and manage activities.  The counselors main job is to manage the campers through relationship building and sharing the responsibilities of keeping them safe and on task each day.  We train all our staff to prepare them for the tasks they need to do.

 What Positions do we need?

It takes a lot to run camp.  There are always activities going on and we need people to help us.  Here are some of the other roles we need:

Lifeguards, Program & Activity Leaders

Media Manager, Camp Store & Canteen Workers

Most of our Program staff should have previous camp/work experience or certifications prior to taking the positions available.  These positions help support the ministry staff & provide for the ongoing needs at camp.

 What Positions do we need?

It takes a crew of kitchen workers to keep the camp fed during the summer.  Our kitchen crew shares in cooking, preparing food, cleaning the kitchen, and making sure everything is safe and ready to go for the meals.  We try to hire enough staff so that they are not working every meal. Many of our staff enjoy trying to be involved in the program in other ways too. Those who work in the kitchen must be willing to learn or have previous food service experience.  Good kitchen workers love to serve others, are levelheaded under pressure, task oriented, and willing to roll with it when things don't go as planned.
